HYPERACTIVESTYLE ARTIST’S TALK TO BE HELD ON MAY 4.
The director of HyperActiveStyle will be giving an artist’s talk on his “Dancing Cats” exhibit at Artomatic on May 4 at 8:30 PM. During the talk he will discuss how the people in his life made the made the creation of this yearlong project a reality.
"Dancing Cats" is a personal account of an artist's year-long quest to translate his creativity into commercial success and the impact commercialization has on the value of his original works. It is also a story of the artist's parallel quest to overcome the obstacle of releasing personal baggage on his way to commercial success.
The story is his own. Learn about this four-year journey of the mind and soul by meeting the people who made this exhibit happen -- and by hearing about the person who won't be there for you to meet.
My exhibit is located at Green 8D03 at the old Patent and Trademark Office Building, 2121 Crystal Drive, in Crystal City, near the Crystal City Metro stop on the yellow or blue lines. Exhibit hours of operation will be:
Friday and Saturday: noon to 1 AM
Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: noon to 10 PM
Thursday: noon to 11 PM
Monday: Exhibit closed.
For more information on the exhibit please visit www.smallfriendlyplanet.org/jayart.html
The exhibit runs until May 20th. The closing party will run all day on May 20th.

ABOUT HYPERACTIVESTYLE
HyperActiveStyle was born out of a series of discussions I had with a former Georgetown University classmate. It was then I saw the challenge art faces as a form of communication in the Internet age. Everywhere I looked I saw the reinterpretation of the Masters' works as computer icons, postcards, key chains, and even low-cost replicas. The question to me was obvious: Does the proliferation of these cheap copies devalue the originals? Why go to Paris to see the Mona Lisa if you can have an apparent exact copy hanging up in your living room? The question was simple enough. The answer wasn't. Thus I decided to focus on the irony of the commercialization of art in my own exhibits.
